Match Report |
The Men's 2nd team season commenced with a friendly against Dutchy 3rd at Lux Park. Under the cosh from the start Caradon held firm with George Rowe showing his potential in goal. However after 20 minutes Duchy found their range with 2 quick goals one of which was a well worked short corner. Then just before half time Duchy added a third and the best of the game with a free flowing move then turned defence into attack which through a one touch strike at the top of the D saw the ball whistle into the corner. At half time Caradon took onboard the guidance provided to be more proactive with the ball, look for space and move towards the ball rather than remain static. The difference in the second half was evident from the word go with Caradon having the bulk of the possession and the better of the chances. George Rowe dealt well with the few attacks Duchy had and the confidence in the Caradon forward line began to grow. Oliver Hedges and Harrison Pollard both had opportunities and eventually man of the match Harrison Pollard made one count with a well work goal from a well waited cross from the right. Other stand out performances came from the two Jakes, Andrews and Wright who both showed great promise for the future. More chances came and went and with more conviction in attack Caradon could have made it a very tight finish but as it was the more streetwise Duchy team held on for the win. Next up will be a trip to Tavistock next Saturday for the first league match of the season.
