Match Report | Caradon entertained CSOM in the quarter final of the Cornwall cup and won convincingly to progress to the semi final. With five regular players unavailable, Caradon changed personnel in key areas but settled quickly and took the lead early on when Clare Poad drove at the students defence and fired home from the top of the circle. With returning Caradon player, Bizzie Dinnis, breaking play down and creating chances the home team were on the front foot and forced many penalty corners. Cambornes’ defence were starting to buckle and a forward run by Lauren Kelly led to a loose ball in the circle being smashed home by player of the match Dinnis. CSOM managed to grab a goal midway through the second half but Caradion were on cruise control and could have stretched the lead by more but had to settle for 3-1 when Poad linked well with Dinnis and it was the captains’ goal that was the last one of the match. Special mention to Marcia Burgess and Natalie Ridgers who both played their first game for the 1s after returning as Mums! Caradon 1s now enjoy a break until the league fixtures return in mid January. |
