Match Report

Caradon entertained Bodmin on Saturday and ran out worthy winners.

The game started slowly with both teams looking low on confidence, but as soon as Joely Bytheway twisted and turned her way through the Bodmin defence to score a great solo goal, the game sparked into life.

Caradon upped the tempo and Bytheway was soon on the score sheet again after a speedy run down the right and a deft finish.

With the score 2-0 at the start of half time it was Bodmin who scored the next goal and Caradon had a slight wobble until they started  to pass the ball in training ground fashion. Beth Harris was the catalyst for many attacking phases of play and Bodmin quite simply couldn’t keep up.

Clare Poads’ pass found Laura Hill and the top of the circle and she powered home to swing the momentum of the match firmly in the home teams way.

Bytheway secured her Player of the match award after scoring another two well taken goals, quite a accomplishment for someone playing third team hockey just last season.

Hill was not to be outdone and scored a fantastic solo goal and Poad finally got in on the act with a goal with minutes to go.

This was a great team performance by an improving side, but they will need to find another gear when they travel to high flyers, Falmouth this week.
