Caradon returned to league business on Saturday and won a point that ensures their league status for next season.
White eagles were the visitors and their previous encounter was a scrappy affair but this game was an end to end, pacey hockey match.
Caradon took the lead when youngster Joely Bytheway was in the right place to sweep home after good build up play by the forwards. The visitors then levelled things up soon after a well worked penalty corner gave the home defence little chance.
The second half saw possession shared evenly between the two teams. Player of the match Beth Harris worked tirelessly in the middle of the pitch and her strength led to numerous attacks. Caradon retook the lead with a break away goal from Bizzie Dinnis but the visitors soon levelled the scores, again from a penalty corner. The game was see sawing and it was another breakaway goal from Dinnis that looked to have secured the points. A stoppage due to an injury with 3 minutes remaining of the match gave the visitors the chance to regroup and they forced a penalty corner with 30 seconds left, a deflected shot found the roof of the net with the helpless defence looking on in disbelief.
Although caradon were left disappointed at the result they can hold their heads high in the way that they competed for the ball and played some fluid passing hockey. The league continues for caradon on Saturday when they travel to league champions elect, Exe.
