Match Report | What would have always been a tough game was made even harder due to the fact the half term had reduced Caradon to only 9 players, however a late arrival meant a starting line up of only 8. Caradons simple plan was to just 'get in the way' of any attack, them down and make things as difficult as possible for them, clearing the ball as far up the pitch as possible. The plan worked and Caradon even had a break-away into the opposition circle in the first few minutes thanks to Dave Lockett. The opposition cleared the attack and started a long spell of pressure against the beleaguered visitors. Anton Luiten in goal put on a impressive display, keeping out shot after shot. It was only a matter of time until Torbay scored and score they did from a penalty corner. The arrival of Neil Jones put Caradon up to 9 men and back on tract to disrupt and breakdown Torbays chances which they did as best they could and were very pleased to be only 2-0 down at half time. Torbay came back fighting in the second half but Caradons plan was working and the home side struggled to find a way through. Spectacular saves from Luiten in goal and Ian Harris throwing himself across the D kept the score line low but couldn’t keep everything out. The game finished 5-0 to Torbay, keeping in mind Torbays top of the table status and Caradon 2’s lack of numbers it was a truly impressive score line, from an awesome all round effort. |
