Match Report | Caradon vs PGSOBs 18/02/2017 After a week away from hockey Caradon seemed to have forgotten how to get motivated. PGSOBs movement off the ball tore through the Caradon defence and It didn't take long for the Plymouth team to take a 2-0 lead. Martin Batty was not going to let the game be a walk over, with a lack of a better option he cut through the opposition defensive and smashed the ball into the bottom corner, putting Caradon on the score sheet and lighting a fire under the feet of the so far lacklustre start. With a goal under their belt Caradon took to attacking the visitors defensive line, a drive down the right by Lawrence Pullen gave Chris Fasey a chance to shoot, the keeper made the save rebounding the ball to a clinical Leon Farrow on the top D, who rocketed the ball into the far side netting before the keeper had a chance to react. Caradon were now on a charge and were looking good for a third goal but the whistle blowing left Caradon just short. At the start of the first half Caradon were keen to continue where there left off, advancing up the pitch Caradon won a short corner, with the push, stop and flick all being on point Fasey put the home team in front for the first time in the game. PGSOB came straight back at Caradon winning a short corner of their own and despite the defensive efforts of the runners the ball fell to a player at the back post who managed to find a gap under Harris and sneak the ball over the line. Both teams were pushing hard, the opposition tempers started to fray causing them to receive a couple sin binned players, whereas Caradon started to fatigue. After a bit of a slogging match with both teams trying to take the lead Caradon won a short corner, a miss-control at the top from Fasey forced him to miss hit a pass, taking a lucky deflection of the keepers foot and giving Caradon the lead for the second time. With ten minutes to go Caradon were stout in their defence and managed to see out the game with a hard fought 4-3 win, allowing Caradon to leap frog PGSOB in the league and setting them up for a good finish to the season. |
