Match Report

Caradon 3rd string were home this weekend to Plym Valley 2nd team. Caradon started well and had lots of positive forward play, Erryn Lockett, Katie Jones & Charlotte Reed worked hard up front to penetrate the Plym 'D' but the Plym keeper dealt with any shots with ease thwarting any attempt on her goal. The mid field had to work hard and thank fully with subs a plenty kept fresh legs on the pitch. The 3rd team welcomed the return of Kerryn Walsh (player of the match) on the right wing where she linked up well with skipper Shelley Lockett to make some great runs through the Plyms Midfiled and defence to feed the ball to the forward line. Bryony Gubbins and Leah Jones worked hard on the left breaking down Plyms forward push. The 1st half finished 1-0 to Plym when they had a lucky goal which trickled over the line after a deflection in the Caradons 'D' which went against the run of play with Caradon having the majority of the play.

The Second half saw Plym Valley come out with even more fight, with their goal spurring them on to push even harder. Caradons defence of Jane Luiten, Josie Dudley, Emma Link, Jeanette Turpin and Marcia burgess had to make well time tackled to keep the visitors at bay. With the game becoming a bit more pressured a few green cards were issued to try and calm the play down. Abbi Strevens and Emma Link were among the few that were sinned binned. Plym valley were the stronger team in the second half and managed another goal to come away 2-0 winners. A great spirited game from Caradon with the youngsters coping well against a aggressive Plym team.
