Match Report | Caradon vs Camborne SoM 21/01/2017 With confidence at a high from the win away in Bridgwater the previous week, Caradon set straight the work playing fluent, stylish hockey which caught the young team off guard. With a high percentage of play Camborne were pinned in their own half and despite promising attacking movements from Jenson Cory on the right Caradon did not manage to net the ball. As the first half went on Camborne started to catch up with the pace of the game creating a few chances of their own, but with Tim Wright controlling the show at the back and Dan Harris clearing any lose shots Caradon had little to fear. The game did get tighter with a few minutes to go before the end of the first half when Elliot Grange got sin binned with a green card after pushing over the Camborne midfielder, but even with 10 men Caradon were not broken down. Half time gave Caradon the opportunity to settle themselves and step back into the controlling role. With continued pressure Caradon won a free hit close to the Camborne D, Leon Farrow slipped the ball into the path of Chris Fasey, who carried the ball into the D and with a quick slap lifted the ball through the crowded D, passed the keeper and inside the far post. Caradon rallied after the goal continuing to press the Camborne defence and bat away the offensive efforts. Every member of the Caradon team gave everything they had to maintain the lead, non more so than man of the match Elliot, who is now more cut and bruise than man, putting his body on the line to win a short corner, picking up a nice graze on his face for his efforts. With the final whistle about to go Camborne dug deep and won a short corner. The away team bought up their whole team hoping to salvage a point from the game. It took two attempts from the Caradon defence, but once the ball was clear a cheer went up from the home team for a hard fought and well deserved win. Next week Caradon travel to West Dorset looking to continue their current form and secure their place in the devision for another season. |
