Match Report

Another tough match for the Caradon third string with an away game against forth in the table Newquay 2's. Caradon won the toss and started strong driving the ball forward. Jayne Longridge powering through the Newquay's defence, creating chances and was unlucky not to score. Pippa Hedley, Leah Jones, Shelley Lockett & Charlotte Reed had their work cut out in midfield trying to win the ball back and push forward to Longridge, Sue Higman & Chloe Higman playing high. Newquay soon settled into their fast passing game and it wasn't long before Newquay started penetrating the Caradons 'D' and after some great saves from young keeper Lauren Bowdler they got a lucky rebound and were on the score sheet. This seemed to spur the home side on and Caradons defence of Jane Luiten, Josie Dudley, Emma Link, Abbi Strevens and Louise Jones had to work extra hard to stop the onsult of attacks and came away with plenty of bruises for their efforts!! The first half finished 3-0 to Newquay.

Caradon started strong again in the second half and were really unlucky not to get a goal on the score sheet when a umpiring mistake stopped the game for a caradon free hit when the goal had already crossed the line after a great strike from Longridge. Caradon however battled on and were unlucky not to score again through a couple of short corner strikes from Lockett & Longridge. Newquay only managed a couple more goals in the second half and got very frustrated with the determination of the caradon's side to keep battling on. Caradons positivity on the pitch is a great asset and they kept their heads whilst Newquay lost theirs. Well done all!!!
