Women's 3rd XI Vs Penzance II

Another tough game for the ladies 3rd's last wekend with a game away against an experienced Penzance team. Captain Shelley Lockett warned her team at the beginning of the match that this would be a tough game and that all players had to give 110% and support each other to stop the onslaught. Caradon battled extremely well in the 1st half keeping Penzance out of their D. Eventually Penzance got one past stand in keeper Josie Dudley, but they had to play it high to beat her. This was their ploy to secure more goals and within a few minutes they had scored another. Abbi Strevens, Louise Jones, Leah Jones, Katie Jones, Sasha Riddle & Sue Higman battled well to force the play forward. Erryn Lockett drove forward into the D and got the visiting team their 1st (and only) short corner of the match. Leah took the 1st strike and then Chloe got on the rebound but it was Erryn Lockett on the post who picked up the loose ball and fired it home (scoring her 1st goal in senior hockey) and the 1st half finished 2-1 to the home side.

The second half saw Penzance come out more aggressively and move the ball around the pitch much quicker. Shelley Lockett, Jane Luiten & Daisy Hunn worked tirelessly In defence keeping the attacks to minimum. Caradon had a few more chances on goal through Karen Dyer, Lockett & Higman but Penzance stood firm with the end result being 5-1 to the home team. The youngsters did extremely well against a fast & physical Penzance team.
