Match Report |
Caradon 2 - 1
Duchy - 6
Following their tough away match last week against Penzance, Caradon faced another strong Cornish side in the form of Duchy.
Caradon started brightly with good passing across the park and to the surprise of the visiting side, battled through the defence to take the lead through a tight angled strike from Sarah Strevens. However the celebrations were short lived as Duchy bounced back within a few minutes with an equaliser and adding to it once more soon after. The home side kept up the determination which has been a highlight of their play in the last few weeks, despite results not going their way. A strong short corner strike from Jayne Longrigg was hit away by the keeper and following opportunities were unlucky not to be converted. Duchy continued to press scoring two more goals before half time.
Going into the second half 4-1 down would have left many teams downtrodden, a scrambled chance and panic in the Duchy defence almost gained Caradon a deserved second goal but the visiting back line was proving defiant. With tempers rising Caradon did well to keep their cool and their heads after some decisions did not go their way, unfortunately these lead to two further goals as the game finished 6-1.
Caradon play in the cup tomorrow in another tough fixture against Falmouth from the league above. But look forward to a return to league hockey the week after with a must win game against St Austell who sit below them in Trelawney 1.
