Match Report | Caradon Men’s 2nd team’s first season in league hockey is proving to be a challenge for the Club. Despite record player recruitment in recent months, establishing a settled side is proving difficult. Despite heroic performances by their elder statesmen, including first time goalkeeper Anton Luiten and triathlon devotee Steve Walsh, the game rapidly slipped away in the first half with the score 0-3 at the interval. Tavistock fielded a group of young skillful players who combined well in the midfield and always had a man spare to slot the ball around the keeper. Despite a fierce strike on the Tavistock goal by Caradon youngster Ben Reynolds and some deft stickwork by returning senior players Neil Mullis and Mark McCartney, the second half was unproductive. However as Caradon defence gained in confidence, they were able to limit Tavistock to 2 goals in the second half, with the final result 0-5. The 2’s play Plymouth Uni B in the league at Lipson tomorrow and in a Cup game against Penzance at Lux Park on Sunday. |
