Match Report | Caradon travelled to Falmouth and despite losing played some great hockey and played their part in an entertaining game. Falmouth galloped to a 2-0 lead within ten minutes and Caradon could have been on the end of a thrashing, but steadied the ship and created chances themselves. Olivia Childs and player of the match Lauren Kelly were winning battles in the centre of the pitch and driving forward. Penalty corners were awarded and Caradon were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet before half time. A positive team talk led to Caradon continuing to frustrate the Falmouth midfield and longer spells of possession for the travelling team helped grow confidence. Returning from an injury, Glayne Price pushed forward on the right but it was Falmouth who stretched the lead after a well executed penalty corner. Keeper, Helen Dellbridge maintained her 100 % record of penalty flick saves to keep the score respectable and in the dying moments Clare Poad scored from a sharp strike off a penalty corner. Caradon play in the county cup quarter final next week against CSOM, Lux Park 1.30 |
